Resolve the baseline
Turn survey findings into a work list. Ask the relevant professional what needs attention before your intended use. Separate necessary repairs from improvements you would enjoy.
THE YACHT UPGRADE HANDBOOK
From an engine repower to lithium batteries and a watermaker, a successful upgrade starts with a clear brief and ends with a system you can operate and maintain.

01 · CONDITION FIRST
Turn survey findings into a work list. Ask the relevant professional what needs attention before your intended use. Separate necessary repairs from improvements you would enjoy.
02 · JOIN UP THE SYSTEMS
Watermakers, refrigeration and autopilots affect your energy plan. A lithium project affects charging. An engine repower affects more than the engine. Give contractors one shared brief.
03 · BUY THE FINISHED JOB
Use all-in Australian dollar quotes: equipment, access, labour, yard work, interfaces, commissioning, training and GST treatment. Agree how variations are authorised and keep a reserve separate.

Appoint a person to coordinate access, drawings, changes and handover. A yard booking, an engine installer and an electrical quote can each look complete while leaving a gap between responsibilities. Record who owns every interface—for example, who confirms alternator charging after a lithium conversion.
For each proposal, request a base scope, exclusions, dependencies, dates, payment milestones, warranty terms, commissioning evidence and a written variation process. Avoid assumed nationwide installation prices: the yacht’s condition, access, location and retained equipment can materially change the work.
